This will be the first real test for Notre Dame in 2019 as Georgia will host the Fighting Irish. The last time these two teams played, it was an instant classic with Georgia going into South Bend with Jake Fromm as a freshman and leaving with a three-point win.

The Bulldogs went on to make the College Football Playoff that season and just missed last year after falling to Alabama in the SEC title game. The winner of this matchup could ride that momentum throughout the remainder of the 2019 campaign and earn themselves a playoff appearance.

Georgia returns Jake Fromm and has D’Andre Swift in the backfield, the defense should be stellar yet again and the Bulldogs’ incoming recruiting class is loaded with talent. Notre Dame, too, had a solid 2019 recruiting class and returns talent on the offensive side in Ian Book and Chase Claypool, but playing in Athens will be the difference here.

Kirby Smart desperately wants to make it back to the playoff and in order to do that, he’ll need to win big home games like these. Expect this one to be close, but the Bulldogs score with four minutes left to extend the lead to two scores, and that’s where it’ll stay.

Final Score: Notre Dame 17, Georgia 27 (2-1)
