It’s going to be weird not seeing Josh Jackson under center for Virginia Tech in 2019. He had a bright future after a breakout freshman season in 2017 but struggled off the field before the 2018 season and then just wasn’t himself and was ailing for most of the year. He didn’t play much, giving way to Ryan Willis.

The Hokies will have a decision to make at the quarterback position for 2019. Will they turn to Willis who has starting experience or will a guy like Braxton Burmeister fight for starting snaps, assuming he’s immediately eligible — because who isn’t these days? Burmeister is a highly-touted transfer from Oregon who just chose the Hokies last weekend.

This game is tough to judge because we don’t know who will be starting at quarterback for Virginia Tech, and because of that, the advantage here has to go to the Irish.

Notre Dame has its offense set in stone for the 2019 season, outside of maybe the running back position and it still has plenty of depth in the backfield.

This game against an improved Virginia Tech team may go down to the wire, but Notre Dame will secure a big home win.

Final Score: Virginia Tech 20, Notre Dame 31 (6-2)
