Texas A&M Football: Way-too-early 2019 two-deep depth chart
By Shelbie Warr
Texas A&M football is preparing for their second year under Jimbo Fisher in 2019. Let’s talk depth chart for the upcoming season, no matter how early.
The Aggies had quite the season in 2018. It wasn’t a national championship, but for a team that had become accustomed to breaking down in the second half of the season, it was a welcome change. As a result, many are quite high on Jimbo Fisher and his coaching staff.
Texas A&M is being given decent odds to make the College Football Playoff as early as 2019. To say that this team is on the up and up is putting it mildly.
set’s talk depth chart, starting with the special teams unit.
Starting Punter: Braden Mann
Backup: Questionable
The Aggies have one of the best punters in the nation, if not the best, in senior Braden Mann. He won the Ray Guy Award for the 2018 season, something that isn’t at all shocking if you look at his numbers. Mann also handles kickoffs. The issue? He doesn’t have a clear back up, so if something were to happen to him this team could be in trouble in a hurry.
Starting Kicker: Seth Small
Backup: Caden Davis
Then freshman Seth Small took over the kicking job when Daniel LaCamera fell injured. He filled in well enough, though he missed a couple kicks that had fans pulling their hair out. However, now with a year under his belt we are likely to see a much improved Small, who was a highly ranked recruit coming out of high school. If not, true freshman Caden Davis sits behind him.
Starting Returner: Roshauud Paul
Backup: Jashuan Corbin
The Aggies have become known for speedy return men who set up big time drives. Before it was Christian Kirk who is now back home in Arizona playing for the Cardinals. Now, it is wideout Roshauud Paul. Though Paul has had some issues with ball security, he has kept his job due to his speed and abilities. Now though, with sophomore Jashaun Corbin throwing his ball into the court, things could change in a hurry.
