NFL Combine: 5 Takeaways from Day 2 of workouts
By Shelbie Warr
4. The quarterbacks are great, but their wideouts are insane.
For this section, I am looking at two quarterbacks, Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock. Both played well while they were at their respective schools, Ohio State and Missouri, and showed off and showed out at the NFL Combine through drills throwing to both tight ends and wide receivers. However, the top receivers coming out of the respective schools had an amazing showing at the Combine.
Emanuel Hall ran a 4.39 40- good enough for sixth on the board among all participants in the day’s workouts. While that is impressive, it is his broad jump that shocked so many. He jumped 11 feet, 9 inches- the second best jump in Combine history, only trailing Cowboys defender Byron Jones. It was the best of any receiver ever. He chose not to run drills due to recovering from a groin injury, but what he did show was absolutely amazing.
For Ohio State, we move to Parris Campbell and Terry McLaurin. Campbell ran a 4.31- the fastest of any receiver at the Combine this year and overall at this moment. The defenders begin tomorrow, but I don’t see anyone really beating that out though DK Metcalf nearly did. We will discuss Batman momentarily though. McLaurin ran an 4.35, good enough for fifth among all participants. Those two showed that Haskins had quite a few great weapons at his disposal for those 50 touchdowns he threw in 2018.
