NFL Combine: 5 Takeaways from Day 2 of workouts
By Shelbie Warr
1. Trace McSorley and Tyree Jackson shine
Let’s look at two guys that aren’t getting enough talk. Could either of those guys take over the spot from Haskins or Murray? Probably not, but they deserve that kind of talk for sure.
Trace McSorley ran a 4.57, the quickest quarterback at the Combine. Could he get a bigger look with Murray sitting this one out? Who knows, but we do know that McSorley is one of the toughest guys out there. Even with injuries, he fought with a touted Kentucky defense to put together a near comeback in the Citrus Bowl that very few people believed he would be able to do. He was quoted as saying that someone would have to rip his pads off for him to not fight for and with his team. He was offered the ability to work out again tomorrow with the defensive backs, but declined, stating that he wants to be a quarterback and that is that.
Then there is Tyree Jackson who sits at the opposite end of the height spectrum than Kyler Murray- sitting at 6-foot-7-inches, 249 pounds. He ran a 4.59 40 yard dash, fastest since 2006 by any guy his height or taller. The Buffalo quarterback out of the MAC was good at the college level and showed out at the Combine with a 34.5 vertical jump. His hands are 10 2/8 inches and his wingspan is a big 83 6/8 inches. The Combine helped Jackson by a mile in terms of making money and showing that he can be what everyone else is.
Simply put, these two guys are sleepers of this draft and they deserve to be talked about like the guys up at the top- Haskins and Murray.
