Kentucky football had a successful 2018, but there are some things that have to be fixed to improve in 2019. What must the Wildcats change?

The 2018 Wildcats reached 10 wins for only the third time in school history. Kentucky beat Florida for the first time since 1986. They had a winning record in the SEC (5-3) for the first time since 1977. Beating Penn State in the Citrus Bowl gave them their first New Year’s Day bowl victory since 1952.

Overall, it was a successful 2018 campaign for the Wildcats. However, there are changes coming to Lexington due to the graduation of some big names like Benny Snell and Josh Allen. All of that being said, there are some things that need to be fixed and changed for the Wildcats to be successful in 2019.

5. Don’t let Georgia nor Florida strike fear

This team wants to compete for the 2019 SEC crown, that much is a given. They are no longer content with just being a basketball school or at times a baseball school. They will not be content with the crash and burn that we will discuss later that has historically come after ten win seasons.

However, for all of that to happen and for this team to win the East and compete with what will either be Alabama or LSU (or maybe Texas A&M — the SEC West team Kentucky fell to in 2018) in the West, they have to first take down the SEC East. That means Florida and Georgia.

The Wildcats did beat Florida for the first time in three decades, but they lost to Georgia, taking away their push for the SEC East title. For a successful 2019 campaign, this team can’t be scared of Georgia or Florida. They have to remember how good they are and that they can very well compete for a title.
