Kentucky Football: 5 fixes the Wildcats need to make for 2019

3. Replacing Benny Snell and Josh Allen is a tall order
The Kentucky Wildcats are losing two of their biggest contributors in Benny Snell and Josh Allen for the 2019 campaign. Let’s just take a look at a little bit of what these two put together for the Wildcats while they were there.
Benny Snell holds the school record for career rushing years with 3,873 total after a strong effort in the Citrus Bowl at the end of the 2018 season. He has 48 total touchdowns — another record — and 19 total 100-yard games for yet another. He holds the school record for points scored in a season and touchdowns in a season for his effort in 2017 — 116 and 19, respectively. Oh yeah, add rushing touchdowns in a season (19), consecutive games with a rushing touchdown (6) and rushing yards by a sophomore with 1,333 in 2017.
Josh Allen was once a two-star recruit who now seems to be a shoe in for a first round pick in the NFL Draft. The best part is that he had that chance a year ago and instead of taking the money then- Allen chose to stick around for his senior year and man did it pay off for him.
He did not miss a game in his four-year career, playing in all 51 games with 35 starts to his name. Over those four years, he totaled 224 tackles, 41.0 tackles for loss, 31.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, 11 forced fumbles, eight pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, one blocked kick and one interception. He tied the Kentucky record with 11 forced fumbles. He broke UK’s career sacks record with 31.5 and the single-season sacks record in 2018 with 17.
Replacing that kind of production? Well, good luck, Kentucky. They have the depth and experience to do it, but the question is do the players have the talent to do it.
