Texas A&M football is bound to have some new faces in 2019 with so many guys leaving for the NFL. Who is set for a breakout spring this year?

Texas A&M is losing quite a bit on the defense and some big offensive production. In all actuality, they are losing the majority of that touted run defense that became the Aggies’ signature as well as one of the best backs to ever wear an Aggie uniform in Trayveon Williams.

That being said, spring ball is about to start and it will be all about those young guns poising themselves for breakout seasons in the upcoming year. Who are those guys? Let’s discuss- starting with a guy who lost what should have been his breakout year to injury in 2018, Michael Clemons.

The 2018 season was supposed to be the year for Michael Clemons. The defensive end out of Cisco Junior College had a decent enough sophomore season in 2017, but was planning on 2018 under Mike Elko and Jimbo Fisher to be his big thing. However, an injury knocked him out early on.

In 2017, he registered 19 tackles, 3.0 TFL and a sack after appearing in all 13 games. Nothing super big or super flashy, just enough to be a contributor. He earned the Defensive Most Improved Player Award last spring, but of course, the injury made next to nothing come of that. Now though, with Kingsley Keke headed to the NFL, this may just be Clemons year. It all starts with spring practice and how much can he prove to Jimbo Fisher and company as he prepares for his senior season with the Aggies.
