Standing out on a defense like Georgia’s is tough because almost everyone is a stud — or has been considered a ‘future star’ coming out of high school. Coming to a program like Georgia, you’d be hard-pressed to find any three-star prospects on the roster competing for playing time early on, but Eric Stokes is a different story.

While he’s a redshirt sophomore, therefore he’s had three years with the program, Stokes has made a name for himself, even with just one year of play under his belt.

However, he hasn’t quite made a name for himself on a national level. The former three-star recruit from Covington, Ga., played well as a redshirt freshman in 2018, finishing with 20 tackles and nine pass breakups, but is still waiting for that first career interception. He flew under the radar on a talented defense, but could change that this spring with a starting opportunity.

Stokes is a talented cornerback with ball-hawking skills and he has a solid 6-1, 185-pound frame that fits well at the collegiate level for corners — it’s actually a very good size.

Keep an eye on the cornerback position, which has been a strength in recent years, as Stokes steps up to take over.
