Pac-12 Football: 5 storylines to follow in spring 2019
By Zach Bigalke
West coast football is ramping back up as teams get ready for spring football. Here are five storylines to watch in Pac-12 football this spring.
After a second straight season of missing out on the College Football Playoff, Pac-12 teams are getting back to the grind on the gridiron. Hope springs eternal in the spring, as teams begin putting in the legwork that they hope will break that streak of futility on the national level.
Arizona State and California already got a jump on their conference competition, wrapping up their spring games on February 28 and March 16 respectively. The Sun Devils and Golden Bears now get the opportunity to watch what happens around the rest of the league as they look ahead to offseason conditioning and preparations for the fall.
Some teams will be looking to rebound from disappointment in 2018, with a bowl game the big target for the new campaign. Other programs are hoping that one more year of seasoning at key positions allows everything to come together for a charge at the Pac-12 crown and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Even within those dreams, though, there are overarching storylines that have both local and national relevance. With that in mind, let’s dive in and look at the biggest storylines throughout the Pac-12 as teams take to the field once again this spring.
