Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M football are heading into spring practice, preparing for the 2019 season. What storylines should you be following?

Texas A&M football is entering the second year of Jimbo Fisher’s coaching and will start spring football on March 20. They have already grown quite a bit from what Kevin Sumlin left behind to what is being fielded today.

That being said though, there are some battles happening and some holes to fill which led to some interesting storylines to follow for the Aggie faithful.

Let’s talk about those storylines, starting with the offensive line.

5. How do Josh Henson and Joe Jon Finley fit into the fold?

The Aggies have two big holes to fill in the offensive line. One at center with Erik McCoy leaving and one at guard with Keaton Sutherland doing just the same. Both guys are headed to the NFL, but that isn’t the only person who is leaving for the NFL. Offensive line coach Jim Turner left the team for the league, heading to the Cincinnati Bengals to fill the same hole.

Jimbo Fisher had to fill that hole — especially with so many recruits buying into him — and he did just that. Josh Henson came over from Oklahoma State to fill the position. Therefore one of the biggest storylines to follow this offseason is Henson’s coaching journey and how the guys buy into him.

On that same note, the Aggies will have a new tight ends coach as Tim Brewster left for North Carolina to reunite with Mack Brown. Now, that spot is being filled by Joe Jon Finely out of Missouri which is a big deal considering how Jace Sternberger burst the position onto the scene for the Aggies as it really hadn’t been used by Texas A&M football for quite awhile.

Simply put, both of those spots are big for this team and it will be interesting to follow to see how they both fit in and figure out how to make use of what the team has as well as what is coming in — which is quite a bit for both position groups.
