Penn State football enters 2019 with a few questions after some key departures. Here are some areas to watch during spring practice.

It seems like the 2018-19 bowl season just ended and Clemson was crowned the national champion, but here we are getting ready for spring practices. In five short months, teams will be gearing up for another season.

Penn State took a slight step back last season, going 9-4 overall with a Citrus Bowl loss. Losing a once in a generation type of talent in Saquon Barkley was a major contributor to the step backwards. This upcoming year they will need to replace quarterback Trace McSorley which will be just as tough.

If Penn State is to improve upon their 2018 record, they will need to answer several questions in key areas. Spring workouts plus the annual Blue-White scrimmage game gives James Franklin his first opportunity to start answering some of those questions.

Here are the storylines to keep an eye on this spring for Penn State.
