Urban Meyer is now gone, but what does that mean for Ohio State football this spring? The Buckeyes need some young guys to break out.

Ohio State fans would tell you that the Urban Meyer era was nearly perfect, but the Buckeyes had the talent to win one or two more titles under the legendary head coach.

No disappointment necessary, though, as the Buckeyes dominated the Big Ten under his reign, but he’s passing the torch to assistant Ryan Day after announcing his retirement following the 2018 season. He will be missed by all Ohio State fans, but the cupboard is far from bare.

Who could break out for the Buckeyes this spring?

One of the more highly-touted recruits in Ohio State’s 2018 class, Taron Vincent was brought in as one of Ohio State’s five-star freshmen and Urban Meyer planned to play him right through a redshirt despite having a loaded defensive line.

Though he didn’t play as much as people expected in his first year, he did finish with three tackles, but he’s ready to burst through this spring and climb up the depth chart.

With the body that he has, he’s more than ready to contribute in 2019 as a second-year player out of IMG Academy. He stands 6-foot-2, weighing in at 285 pounds and he’s essentially an immovable object in the middle of the defensive line.

Ohio State churns out top defensive linemen on a regular basis and that won’t change under Ryan Day’s control, especially with Vincent breaking out and adding to that depth up front.

Could he start this fall?
