The spring is here and that means the brief return of college football. Here’s the full rundown of the Power 5 spring games as currently scheduled.
The long drought from mid January to late August feels like an eternity for college football fans. Spring football, and more specifically the spring game, remains one of the few oases in an offseason which always feels like it drags on forever.
National Signing Day once provided another momentary bump, but the buzz surrounding the first weekend in February has dissipated considerably. The majority of top recruits make their decisions in December now, leaving the original signing day somewhat of a letdown. Spring football truly is the last portion of the college football calendar that feels like the fall, albeit a slightly lesser version.
Whether for actual experience or for the fans, college football spring games are a staple of most every team’s offseason. Three power five programs have opted not to host a spring game: Louisville, Iowa State and Northwestern. Our apologies to fans of those teams.
