1. Quarterback

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Florida must develop a playmaker at quarterback if it hopes to win another national championship. Of course you’ve heard this because it’s been the talk of the town for the past decade.

And for the majority of last season, concerns still existed. But following a breakout final four games, Feleipe Franks cemented his position as the Gators’ starting quarterback heading into next season. Spring, however, will be an important time for Franks to show not only that his performance at the end of last season was for real, but that he’s improved, particularly in his accuracy and decision making.

Ultimately, the development of Emory Jones will decide if this even becomes a battle. As Dan Mullen’s most highly-rated quarterback ever, Jones carries with him expectations to eventually become the face of the Gator program. After an educational redshirt year, Jones needs to showcase his talent during spring, and at the very least, beat out Kyle Trask for the backup role. The best-case scenario for the coaching staff would be if Jones can beat Trask and also push Franks to get better.
