2019 NFL Draft: Implications of Kyler Murray going No. 1 overall
The 2019 NFL Draft is less than a month away, and while Kyler Murray looks like the sure-fire No. 1 pick, there’s still little clarity everywhere else.
The 2019 NFL Draft is getting closer and closer. It’s finally draft month, with the calendar flipping to April and the wait nearing its end. Each passing week has provided more clarification on how the first round might shake out, with free agency moves and surprising trades shuffling the draft order and the needs of each team.
Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray looks to almost assuredly be the No. 1 pick, though the Cardinals are certainly keeping up the smoke screen surrounding the selection. A potential Josh Rosen trade could alter the landscape of the first round further.
For the first time, I’ve decided to mock a few trades, though there will almost certainly be more than I have pegged in this projected first round. The combine and respective pro days have provided further clarification on the first round, with plenty of players locking in their place on the draft’s first day, while others have seen their stock slip down to day two.
Most of the big dominoes have already fallen in free agency, though there are still some quality players available.
This will be my last projected first round prior to a seven-round mock the day before the draft. Things are getting clearer, but there’s still a lot of unknowns to be sorted out.
Here’s an updated first round mock, with a few trades littered throughout.
