Gus Malzahn has to feel good about his quarterback situation this spring. He might be a bit uncertain as to who will be starting when the season kicks off, but his options are endless.

Losing Jarrett Stidham hurts, but Malik Willis is coming back for his junior season after passing for 24 yards on 5-of-7 completions. Believe it or not, he’s the most experienced returning quarterback but the hype surrounding early enrollee freshman Bo Nix is immense.

The five-star quarterback was the No. 1 dual-threat in the 2019 class and the 33rd-best overall recruit, according to 247Sports. He is one of a handful of early enrollees for the Tigers and even though he’s just 6-foot-1.5 and 207 pounds, he has the look of a difference-maker. He can do a little of everything and he’s going to be fun to watch for years.

Will he get his start in 2019 as a true freshman under center? There are many who believe that with a strong spring, he can set himself up for a starting spot, but it’s not going to be easy.

The freshman will have quite the battle with Willis, Cord Sandberg and the next player on this list of potential breakouts.
