The 2019 Blue-White game will conclude Penn State football’s spring practice. Here are three things to keep an eye on during the game.

Spring practices have nearly concluded for Penn State and now it is time for their annual Blue-White game. It is always a fun experience for the fans to get out into some good weather, hopefully, and catch some early glimpses of the team that will take the field this fall.

Here are three things to watch for during the upcoming spring game.

3. Inexperienced, but talented receivers

Last season during a 9-4 campaign, the Nittany Lion offense lacked cohesiveness at times and a big reason was the lack of consistency at the receiver position. Veteran receivers Juwan Johnson, Brandon Polk and DeAndre Thompkins often times were victims of dropped passes and poor route running.

Those three receivers have either transferred or graduated out of the program. Now the Lions have a lot of young underclassman to step up in their place. This will be an opportunity for the young players to make an early name for themselves.

Penn State fans already know upcoming sophomore KJ Hamler, who led the team in receiving last season as a freshman, and tight end Pat Freiermuth, who led the team in touchdown receptions last season. Hamler and Freiermuth will have plenty of opportunities to improve upon their freshman campaigns.

There is plenty of other talent surrounding them. Jahan Dotson, Justin Shorter, Mac Hippenhammer, and Cam Sullivan-Brown have all seen the field in spurts but will have the opportunity to see it more this upcoming year. Fans should also look out for Florida State transfer George Campbell and what he can bring to this receiving corps.
