Texas A&M Football: 5 things to watch for during 2019 spring game
By Shelbie Warr
3. Kellen Mond’s growth and development
We saw an improved Kellen Mond in 2018, that is no secret. He seemed like a better, more confident passer and just an all around better quarterback than we saw in 2017 when he attempted to fill the shoes of an injured Nick Starkel. He looked like a guy comfortable in his position and that was a welcome sight for Aggie fans for sure.
How does he get even better? There is room for improvement, trust me on that one. His biggest issue seems to be how he responds to things going wrong, though we did see improvement on that against LSU. Auburn and Mississippi State a year ago showed us that Mond still had some growing up to do and while we saw some of that fix itself against afore mentioned LSU and NC State, there is still growing to do.
However, according to TexAgs who has been on the field for every practice, Kellen Mond has truly emerged this spring season and seems like a completely different guy than the one who took the field in 2018. He has become a more vocal leader. He’s throwing the ball well. His confidence is higher in both himself and his supporting cast.
Overall, Mond has become what the Aggies need him to be and he will be something fun to watch during this spring game.
