These two both deserve the defensive awards for the game. Defensive back Clifford Chattman and linebacker Aaron Hansford both shined for the Maroon Team. As they were on the same team, I included them on the same slide. We will go through what both brought to the table, starting with defensive back Clifford Chattman.

Junior Clifford Chattman has had some up and downs in his career. His freshman year, he appeared mostly only special teams. He then redshirted his next season and lost the next to a fall camp injury. All of that considered though, he is looking for a 2019 to remember and he kicked that off in style with a great spring game performance. He finished with seven tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss and an interception.

Aaron Hansford is also a junior. He lost 2016 and 2018 due to an injury. His 2017 was less than productive. Now, as a redshirt junior, he has made a position change. He moved from wide receiver to linebacker and it seems like so far it is a great position change. He put together a team leading nine tackle performance.

Both guys will likely be essential pieces for the defense in 2019.
