No. 2: Exree Loe | Linebacker

Another player that impressed at getting after the quarterback on Saturday was sophomore linebacker Exree Loe. He recorded two sacks that totaled 14 yards lost and caught the eye of his head coach.

“I thought he really showed out today,” said Neal Brown about Loe. “He’s a guy that plays with great energy all the time, but he was really productive.”

That energy stems from the large role he had on special teams in 2018. He totaled only eight tackles last season, but managed three tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

The sacks Loe made in the spring game weren’t really because of some exotic blitz looks, though. Koenning stated that their blitz packaging has been, “kept to a minimum,” thus far in the spring. Finding who to play where is a big reason why, but once they start game-planning this summer, Koenning says they’ll start specializing.
