Before we get into this one, let’s start off by saying that this shouldn’t be a surprise. Cole Kmet was the No. 3 tight end in the 2017 class when he committed to Notre Dame and a top-100 prospect. This breakout is long overdue and with Alize Mack gone, he can finally reach that potential.

Notre Dame has been known for churning out top-tier tight ends like Kyle Rudolph and Tyler Eifert and many believe Kmet will be the next guy.

Although he didn’t have the best stat sheet during the spring game, you could just tell he had taken that next step with his route-running and he just stood out.

Kmet had been a dual-sport athlete, playing baseball for the first two years of his college career, but he has decided to focus only on football and hang up the mitt. That decision has benefitted him already and now he can grow as a football player into one of the top tight ends in the nation.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he became an All-American candidate this year or next.
