Louisville fans are familiar with Jon Greenard’s quarterback-sacking penchants, but the Orange and Blue game presented Gator Nation its first opportunity to witness the next potentially great Florida pass rusher.

During the annual spring game, Greenard took advantage of weak offensive line play and recorded a couple of sacks and several more quarterback pressures. Of playing defensive end in Todd Grantham’s system, Greenard said:

"“There’s always pressure when you’re playing University of Florida defensive end, so the thing is, with (Polite), he just had a really great season. I watch film to see the things he did so I can make plays like he did, as well. Overall, there’s always pressure, but I just don’t really think about it like that, just go out and play my game and do what I could do.”"

Concerns about the production-vacuum created by Jachai Polite’s absence vanished quickly this spring as Greenard has made himself right at home in a system tailored to his strengths. And with Jeremiah Moon currently injured, Greenard appears to be first in line to start at the buck position.

If Greenard is able to replicate Polite’s success from the 2018 season, the Florida defense will have one less concern to address.
