Van Jefferson, Tyrie Cleveland, Freddie Swain were all household names in Gainesville, but Trevon Grimes’ spring game performance demands that his name be added to the mix.

In a game that showcased plenty of offensive firepower, no firework shined as bright or popped as loud as Grimes. He was so dominant that he set a Florida spring game record for receiving yards after recording 195 yards on only four receptions.

Gator Nation has eagerly awaited a breakout performance from the 6-foot-5 former five-star transfer from Ohio State. He flashed in the 2018 regular season finale against Florida State, but otherwise had a quiet first year for the Gators. After looking unstoppable during the spring game, expectations for Grimes will be sky-high come the beginning of the regular season.

After his big game, Grimes candidly spoke to why this year will be different:

"“I’ve had to overcome a lot of barriers, a lot of things. Like I said, I didn’t really play that much my freshman season. My sophomore season I was all right. I hold myself to a high expectation, so I really just had to get off a couple of mental barriers. And now that I feel like I overcame those and I’m having fun and going out there and having fun with my teammates and brothers there’s nothing that me or our team can accomplish this year.”"

If Grimes continues his hot-streak, the Gators will certainly have the deepest receiving unit in the SEC and possibly the country.
