Spring ball has come and gone for Oklahoma football but which players are trending up for the Sooners heading into the 2019 season?

Oklahoma made it to the promised land in 2018, but fell short against Alabama. Now, the Sooners have a former member of those Crimson Tide leading the offense in Jalen Hurts.

Will Hurts’ presence bring titles back to Norman? It’s possible, especially seeing how well he played this spring. He looked like the next great Oklahoma quarterback and potentially a back-to-back-to-back Heisman-winning candidate.

Hurts wasn’t the only star to have a big spring and improve his stock heading into the 2019 season.

Which Sooners are trending in the right direction after spring ball?

It’s safe to say Oklahoma fans miss the days of Mark Andrews. The former all-everything tight end was an almost unguardable weapon for the Sooner offense and helped make Oklahoma’s passing attack one of the best in the nation.

Austin Stogner could be the next great tight end in that same mold. He stands a towering 6-foot-6 and weighs in at about 235 pounds. He’s a monster target and will be a nightmare matchup for defenses.

The nation’s third-best tight end in the 2019 class enrolled early and put on a show for fans during the Friday night spring game. He finished with three catches for 41 yards and had everyone asking, “Who is going to be able to guard this kid?”

The tight end spot will be locked down for the near future and Stogner will soon become a household name after playing himself into some action this spring. He’ll be a solid option behind the talented Grant Calcaterra.
