Who could have possibly out-done Jalen Hurts this spring? Well, if the spring game was any indication, the nod may have to go to freshman receiver, and former five-star recruit, Trejan Bridges who’s also an early enrollee.

Early on, it was evident that he’s not a typical freshman receiver. On a pass from Hurts that was thrown a bit short and toward the sideline — with a defender draped all over him — Bridges showcased patience and excellent instincts, turning around, reeling the ball in and staying inbounds inside the 10-yard-line.

Bridges then showcased his ability to make things happen with the ball in his hands. He took a short screen pass from Hurts and scampered about 20 yards, in and out of traffic, down to the 5-yard-line.

The last reception he had may have been his most impressive as Hurts threw a jump-ball off his back foot and Bridges waited under it with a defender on his back and made the grab at the goal-line for a near touchdown. He has a knack for finding and getting back to the ball even on throws that aren’t perfect — Hurts will utilize him plenty this year.

Bridges finished his debut with the Sooners by catching three passes for 76 yards and nearly reached the end zone on each of his receptions. Big future ahead for this kid.
