4. Austin Burton isn’t going away in the QB battle

When Austin Burton committed to UCLA in 2017, no one figured he’d be anywhere close to pushing for a starting job within his first three years with the program. After a solid spring game, fans are beginning to realize that wouldn’t be the worst scenario.

Sure, Dorian Thompson-Robinson is everyone’s favorite to win the starting job, and it’s truly his to lose, but Burton wouldn’t be the worst backup option.

Heck, he’d be a solid starter for the Bruins, if not to just give Thompson-Robinson more time to get acquainted to Chip Kelly’s offense.

Clearly he can throw the deep ball and he finished the day 10-of-17 through the air with 122 yards but didn’t reach the end zone — though he did come close in the play above to Jaylen Erwin.

Burton just isn’t going away in the quarterback battle and that’s not the worst news for the Bruins as it’s only going to make the starter that much better.
