2. player. 42. . DE/OLB. Ohio State . Nick Bosa

The general consensus now is that the 49ers are going to take Nick Bosa with the No. 2 overall pick if the Cardinals take Murray first. They seem to have narrowed it down to Bosa and Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams for a while now, but Bosa’s potential at edge rusher seems to be a bit more intriguing.

Bosa didn’t blow everyone away at the combine, and he has some injury concerns that stemmed from his time at Ohio State, but he has a very high ceiling and a high floor that should allow him to contribute right away as a rookie, ultimately developing into one of the NFL’s most feared pass rushers.

San Francisco has already upgraded their pass rush this offseason by trading for Dee Ford. Adding Bosa would make DeForest Buckner expendable, and they would most likely look at trading him. He’s coming up on a contract year anyway, and would be expensive to retain.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they passed on Bosa and grabbed Williams, though. With Buckner coming off of a strong season, and Ford now in the mix, they could draft Williams and have the makings of one of the best young defensive lines in the NFL.

Either player would be able to make a big impact as a rookie, something invaluable for a team like the Niners that has playoff aspirations in 2019.
