. QB. Ohio State. Dwayne Haskins. 6. player. 31

There’s been some smoke around the Giants being infatuated with Duke quarterback Daniel Jones, which could lead them to pass on a quarterback with the No. 6 pick and then grab Jones at No. 17. They could theoretically take the Duke signal-caller with this pick, but that would be so much of an overreach that the entire front office should be terminated as a result.

Some believe Jones is the top quarterback on the Giants’s draft board, and that may be true, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was just a smoke screen and they have zeroed in on Haskins with the No. 6 pick.

The Ohio State product would probably be best served with a redshirt year in the Big Apple, which works out well with the likelihood that Eli Manning will remain the team’s starting quarterback for one more season.

Haskins has his flaws, but he’s still the best quarterback in this class, in my opinion, and I’m going to choose to believe that New York isn’t foolish enough to pass on him in favor of Jones. Expecting the Giants to be rational, though, is foolish in the post Odell Beckham-trade world.

I have zero confidence in this pick, but I’m sticking with it. If they pass on Haskins, expect the first round to get real messy.
