After an up and down first round, the NFL Draft picked up on Day 2. Here were the players, teams and draft picks who faired the best after Round 2 and Round 3.
The NFL Draft is all about extracting value. There are many inherently “good” picks, just like there aren’t many “bad” picks. There are good and bad values, though. Drafting a fifth-round offensive tackle in the middle of Day 2 isn’t good value. Grabbing a potential franchise quarterback on the cheap? That’s a win.
Here are a few of the biggest winners and losers from Round 2 and Round 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Winner: Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense
There was nervous tension through parts of Day 1 for the Green Bay Packers. Questions swirled around the Packers’ backup quarterback position, which ultimately went without a drafted quarterback, at least so far.
Rather than a quarterback, Green Bay added Mississippi State center Elgton Jenkins and Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger. Those two, combined with a trio of receivers selected by the Packers in the 2018 Draft make for an interesting array of offensive tools for a quarterback who’s Super Bowl window seems to be starting to close.
