This one was one of the more shocking slips of the entire draft. The projected third-rounder slipped three more rounds down to the Bengals in round six.
It is safe to say that no one expected that, especially with how many records he broke at Texas A&M and how reliable he was year after year with the Aggies. He finished his career with Texas A&M with a record breaking season that was enough for him to chose to forgo his senior season and declare for the draft.
Williams rushed for 1,760 yards and 18 touchdowns with a 6.5 per-carry average. He was a staple of the offense and will be a great fit for the Bengals offense who were looking for a reliable running back to add to their rotation.
He won’t be a first year starter, sitting behind Joe Mixon and Giovanni Bernard. Right now, he will need to bulk up to fight for a special teams role with the team. He has a pretty good chance to make the final roster for the Bengals though and that should have him and the Aggie faithful quite excited for him.
