NFL Draft 2019: Top 10 biggest steals on Day 3
By Shelbie Warr
I, for one, am shocked that the words seventh round and Myles Gaskin are even mentioned in the same sentence. This young man broke just about every record he could in his four-year career at Washington. He rushed at least 1,250 yards in all four of his seasons and scored a combined 62 rushing and receiving touchdowns. Those kind of numbers are shocking for a seventh round pick. I would have graded him a third or fourth rounder, at the very least.
“I think I’m a patient back,” Gaskin said about himself. “I think I’ve got good hands out of the backfield. I think when I see daylight I can separate from a lot of people and (I’m) just a hungry dude trying to get better each and every day. I think that has a lot to do with my running style.”
The Dolphins got a steal with Gaskin, a consistent runner and receiver for a team that made themselves contenders with him in the backfield. His lack of what many would call “elite athleticism” is what kept him on the board till the seventh round, but in my opinion that make absolutely no sense.
This kid was an absolute steal for the Dolphins and they may not even know it.
