Yes, I’m well aware that the Dolphins traded for Josh Rosen on Friday. But I’m not convinced that if Miami finds themselves in this position that they wouldn’t pull the trigger on Tua Tagovailoa here. They’re obviously enamored with the Crimson Tide product, and if they have the No. 1 pick that probably means that things didn’t go swimmingly with Rosen.
How fascinating of a story will it be if Rosen finds himself in the exact same situation next year as he did with the Cardinals? Will he ever get a fair shake as a starting quarterback in the league, or is he doomed to be bounced around constantly until he’s out of the league?
The 2020 class should boast a strong crop of quarterbacks, and Tagovailoa leads the pack. As a true freshman, he came off of the bench and rescued Alabama in the national championship game with a performance for the ages. He beat out Jalen Hurts for the starting spot last season and responded with the most efficient passing season in the history of college football.
He completed 69% of his passes for 3966 yards and 43 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He was ruthlessly efficient, and his accuracy has long been praised. He can make every throw on the field and can fit the ball into the tightest of windows.
He’ll probably the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 pick regardless of who ends up getting the selection. If a team who doesn’t need a quarterback has it, then they’ll hold it for ransom hoping someone will move up to take the Alabama product.
