The Seahawks entered draft week with only four picks, the least amount in the NFL. After some wheeling and dealing, Seattle turned those four selections into a whopping 11 picks. The trades were sorely needed as the team had several areas of need on the roster they needed to address.

It’s a bit curious, though, that Pete Carroll and company didn’t address the need at cornerback. The Legion of Boom is no more; it’s time to begin rebuilding the secondary. Seattle’s corners weren’t very good last season, so they should be looking for some upgrades in the near future.

They drafted a pair of safeties – Utah’s Marquise Blair in the second round and Oregon’s Ugo Amadi in the fourth round – that they hope will eventually be contributors in the defensive backfield. Next they’ll need to grab some young corners to continue their gradual rebuild in the secondary.

Florida’s C.J. Henderson was one of the best pure cover corners in the country as a sophomore last season. He’s got excellent ball skills, picking off six passes in his two years in Gainesville. Henderson was a second-team All SEC player in 2018, and will begin the season as a consensus preseason All American.

Henderson has the size, speed, and range that you look for in a prototypical NFL corner, and barring a step down, he’ll be one of the most highly sought after defensive backs in the 2020 class.
