I can see Jon Gruden being enamored with the big-armed Georgia transfer quarterback, and if he’s still on the board by the time the Raiders pick for the second time in the first round, he might be too tempting to pass on.

Drafting a quarterback wouldn’t necessarily mean the team is going to immediately move on from Derek Carr. He’s still under contract until 2023, although there would certainly be a market for him if the Raiders chose to look into trading him.

It’s anybody’s guess what Jacob Eason will look like in Seattle next season after sitting out a year, but it’s important to remember that he’s a former five-star quarterback who didn’t lose his gig because of anything performance related in Athens. Eason suffered an injury and got Wally Pipped by Jake Fromm, who was playing too well to be benched, and looks like a first round prospect in his own right.

Eason had a solid freshman season with Georgia, and he could be a big upgrade for Washington next season as they look to replace Jake Browning. If Eason can be a big enough upgrade at the quarterback position, then the Huskies could win another PAC-12 championship and potentially fight for a second College Football Playoff berth.

A strong season could see Eason forego his final year of eligibility and head into the draft where he would certainly be an intriguing pro prospect.
