The Saints had little draft capital to improve their roster, but still came away with several quality players on days two and three. Texas A&M’s Erik McCoy could be a starter right away up front on the Saints’s offensive line, and Florida safety Chauncey Grander-Johnson was one of the steals of the draft in the fourth round. Both players could make an instant impact for New Orleans in 2019, and they should once again be a primary contender for the Super Bowl.

The Saints might have the luxury of drafting the best player available, and if so it would be hard to argue against that being LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton, who could end up being the top cornerback from this class when it is all said and done.

This could also end up being a position of need with Patrick Robinson turning 32 in September and Eli Apple unlikely to be the long-term answer across from Marshon Lattimore. Fulton could come in and provide New Orleans with a pair of talented corners on the outside.

Fulton flew under the radar in 2018 with all the attention on Greedy Williams, but he’s an outstanding cover corner in his own right, and NFL teams won’t have the same effort concerns with him. They also won’t have to worry about his willingness to help out in run support, either.
