2. New Mexico (Sept. 14)

Unfortunately for Notre Dame, one of its byes comes after Week 1 and before hosting New Mexico. Frankly, the players do not need the rest that soon, and the Lobos are not a team that the Irish need two weeks to prepare for. It’s also unfortunate for New Mexico that Notre Dame has two weeks to prepare, will be well-rested, and will be playing at home.

Often when teams have an unnecessary extra week to prep for an opponent, they will do one of two things. One, they will look inward and focus on bettering themselves. For example, a running team, they will work on their own blocking schemes and their play-action plays. Or two, the team will look a week ahead, and start studying and designing plays for the following week’s opponent.

For the Irish, this next opponent past New Mexico are the Georgia Bulldogs.

Oh hold on. I almost forgot.

Final: Notre Dame 48, New Mexico 0 (2-0)
