Texas A&M Football: Top 5 prospects for 2020 NFL Draft
By Shelbie Warr
The 2019 NFL Draft has come to a close with seven Texas A&M football players coming off the board. Which Aggies are top prospects for 2020?
Texas A&M had seven guys come off the board during the 2019 NFL Draft.
Erik McCoy started things off heading to the New Orleans Saints, looking to fill their new hole at center. Jace Sternberger enhanced the Packers tight end room and brought defensive end Kingsley Keke with him for the ride. Daylon Mack will be joining the Ravens. Trayveon Williams, one of the biggest steals of the draft, went late to the Bengals. Safety Donovan Wilson joined the Dallas Cowboys and fullback and special teams star Cullen Gillaspia will be joining the Houston Texans.
Who will be the top prospects of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M?
Starting with Michael Clemons, a senior defensive end. Please note that the first two are seniors and the last three will be juniors who I believe could declare early.
5. Michael Clemons, DE
Michael Clemons comes to the Aggies out of Cisco Junior College as a transfer back in 2016. He averaged five tackles per game for Cisco JUCO with 2.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss in six games. Fans and teammates called him Cyclops there — which was something many Aggies were quite excited about.
Clemons’ sophomore season was decent enough. He appeared as a reserve in all 13 games as he sat behind Myles Garrett and Dae Dae Hall. He registered 19 tackles, 3.0 TFL and a sack. He then missed all of his junior season due to injury.
So for him to be the draft prospect he can be, he needs a strong senior season and I believe he can do that. He will be the focus of that defensive end position and as a result has the ability to really come out and do his thing, so to speak.
