Safety. Texas A&M. Donovan Wilson. 6. player. 123.

Donovan Wilson joins an already established safety room for the Dallas Cowboys. Many expected them to still draft a safety early though. That isn’t exactly the case though as they waited till the sixth round and picked up Donovan Wilson with pick 213 this past weekend. A video of him getting his phone call can be seen below. Spoiler alert: his family was very, very excited.

Does he have the chance to make the Cowboys final roster, competing with the safeties already on the roster Currently, Dallas has Xavier Woods at free safety and Jeff Heath at strong safety. Kavon Frazier and George Iloka also are expected to receive valuable playing time. Where does Donovan Wilson fit into that? Well, his physicality and playmaking ability has him as a steal to many different media outlets discussing the draft as a whole for the Cowboys. In my opinion, he has a pretty great ability to make that roster and make an impact for Dallas quickly.

“He will bite,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters Saturday, “and if they bite as a puppy, they’ll bite as a dog.”
