4. Terrell Lewis, EDGE
Injuries have derailed what could have been a prolific career so far for Terrell Lewis. Truth be told, had he not torn his ACL last summer, Lewis likely would have declared for the draft and been a first round pick this year.
Instead, Lewis returns to Tuscaloosa for another run hoping to enjoy an injury-free season for the first time. Along with missing all of last season with the ACL injury, Lewis injured his elbow in the season opening win over Florida State in 2017 and missed the majority of the season before returning for the College Football Playoff.
Lewis has game-changing physical ability that would have provided a big boost for Alabama’s dormant edge rush in 2018. If he can stay healthy this year, he might ultimately lead the Crimson Tide in sacks.
At 6-foot-5 and 256 pounds, Lewis has the size to play as a stand-up edge rusher in a 3-4 scheme or put his hand in the dirt in a 4-3. He’s got excellent athleticism, and his lateral agility is tough for offensive tackles to combat.
Lewis is one of college football’s freakiest athletes, and if he can stay healthy in 2019 then he’ll have a strong chance to be a first round pick in 2020. If not, he’ll still be a highly coveted prospect, but teams could ultimately be scared off by his injury past.
