Florida Football: Top 5 prospects for 2020 NFL Draft
1. C.J. Henderson, CB
Though he may not let you know himself, his teammates and the coaching staff know that C.J. Henderson is one of the best cornerbacks in all of college football.
Henderson’s calm, quiet demeanor stabilizes the Florida defense, and his elite talent and production raises their level of play.
“He’s the best [college] corner I’ve ever coached. He’s competitive. He plays hard and he does his job. He works,” said Florida defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
Because of his dominance, Florida’s opponents often purposefully throw few balls in Henderson’s direction. He’s intercepted six passes in his career, returned two for touchdowns and he even has recorded three sacks (all during last season). Henderson is the true definition of a lockdown cornerback.
As the NFL modernizes its offenses by emphasizing the passing game, reliable cornerbacks will increasingly become a more valuable commodity. Henderson – who stands at 6-foot-1, 191-pounds and possessing great length – may be the best corner prospect in the 2020 class for the modern NFL.
To round him out as a player, Henderson is a willing tackler and a positive locker room presence. Another solid season of terrorizing quarterback and Henderson could find himself being selected in the early first round in 2020.
