This is the SEC’s cupcake week. The SEC schools who aren’t forced to play a conference opponent almost exclusively schedule an FCS team the week before rivalry weekend. The notable SEC games on November 23:

  • Alabama vs. Western Carolina
  • Kentucky vs. UT-Martin
  • Mississippi State vs. Abilene Christian
  • Vanderbilt vs. East Tennessee State

The SEC has combated that more this year by scheduling more conference matchups, but none of the above games figure to be close.

Samford went 6-5 last season, and played a tight game with their one FBS opponent. It actually had a fourth quarter lead over Florida State before the Seminoles were finally able to overtake them.

The Bulldogs like to throw the football, but they’ll have to replace record-setting quarterback Devlin Hodges. Regardless, don’t expect Auburn to struggle in this one like Florida State did last year.

Pick: Auburn 52, Samford 7 (8-3,4-3)
