Ohio State football has finished up its spring practices and there were a handful of players who stood out. Which five Buckeyes are trending up?

With another spring in the books, this one feels a bit different for Ohio State football. The Buckeyes are moving forward without Urban Meyer, which is weird to think, and Ryan Day is running the show.

That shouldn’t change the level of optimism, though, as the Buckeyes showed off this spring with plenty of talent on both sides of the ball.

Sure, Dwayne Haskins is gone, but the Buckeyes have plenty coming back on offense, including star quarterback and Georgia-transfer Justin Fields.

Which Buckeyes have played themselves into prominent roles this spring?

With Mike Weber’s departure, there will be a need for backup running backs to support starter JK Dobbins in 2019. Look no further than redshirt freshman Master Teague.

The backfield has looked solid over the past few years, dating back to Ezekiel Elliott but Weber’s absence put a damper on things this offseason. Ryan Day shouldn’t have to worry too much, especially after watching Teague break out in the spring game for 75 yards on seven touches.

Oh yeah, and he reached the end zone twice.

Dobbins topped 1,000 yards last season while Weber was behind him but decided to declare for the NFL draft a year early. Teague, on the other hand, had 17 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown, maintaining his redshirt.

Now that Weber is gone, Teague is ready to take over as the No. 2 back with his 5-11, 220-pound bruising frame that makes him so hard to tackle.
