Out of high school, I remember Amir Riep being one of my favorite cornerback prospects. He had solid size at 6-feet tall and he was an aggressive defensive back who liked to get his hands dirty.

Fast forward three years and we’re looking at a guy who starred as a special teams player during his freshman year, played sparingly in 10 games as a sophomore and could be in line to start as a junior, especially after the spring that he had.

Riep came to Ohio State as one of the nation’s top cornerback recruits but has made the move to safety and it’s been paying off for him thus far. He’s up to 195 pounds and flashed some major athleticism during the Buckeyes’ spring game on April 13.

This was just one of his highlights and according to the coaching staff, he’s been showing off all spring long. He has made a name for himself in a relatively loaded secondary and this could just be the start of his rise to the top of the depth chart at safety.
