LSU Football: 5 players trending up after spring 2019
Can Ed Orgeron get LSU football back to the top of the SEC? If these five players continue trending in the right direction, the answer may be yes.
Ed Orgeron landed one of the nation’s top 2019 recruiting classes and that’s setting up another potential SEC title-contending season for LSU.
The Tigers have all the talent necessary to compete with Alabama and Georgia, but can they put a full season together and not have any slip-ups? That’s a different discussion for another day.
For now, let’s talk about which players stood out this spring and improved their stock — and potential placement on the two-deep depth chart.
Which five Tigers are trending up after a strong spring?
Finding himself buried on the depth chart for the past three years, Dee Anderson may finally have his breakout season in front of him.
After a strong spring which culminated in the public scrimmage, Anderson looked capable of being a starter at wide out and potential go-to target which should have already happened with his 6-foot-6, 225-pound frame. He’s an absolute monster and he torched LSU’s secondary for 57 yards on three catches — he led all receivers.
Anderson’s biggest play of the day was a 41-yard catch-and-run on a simple crossing route over the middle.
It seems like he has the size and speed necessary to give opposing SEC defenses fits and he’s in his final year, so he has to find that motivation, too.
