Tylan Knight came into spring ball expecting to play running back, fighting for carries behind Scottie Phillips, but the sophomore was asked to change positions.
The Rebels needed someone to step up in the slot and Knight seemed like a prime candidate. He made the switch halfway through spring and showed off in the spring game, catching five passes for a game-high 91 yards and a touchdown. It looked like slot was his natural position and the change was working out well.
Although the starting job isn’t quite his yet, he made a name for himself just a year after rushing 19 times for 107 yards and no scores. He hadn’t caught a single pass in his first year with the program but that’ll change in 2019.
If the offense is searching for a serious speed threat in the slot and a guy who can make things happen with the ball in his hands, it’ll need not look any further than Knight.
