Texas A&M Football coach Jimbo Fisher has taken a further step in his headlong plunge into the Aggies’ culture, recently purchasing livestock of his own.
If you ever have the opportunity to see a Texas A&M Football game in person at Kyle Field you’ll notice the nattily-clad yell leaders rallying the crowd from the field. They’ll go through a series of yells, often returning to an Aggie classic, “Farmer’s Fight”.
A nod to the small-town college’s rural roots, the agriculture-themed chant has retained it’s shine throughout the modernization of the school. Whether you’re from the sticks or the city, College Station has a homey field which makes everyone feel welcome. That comfort has evidently extended to Texas A&M’s second-year football coach Jimbo Fisher.
If records from 44 Farm’s recent livestock sale are to be believed, Fisher purchased Ruby, a female cow from Cameron, Tx. What Fisher intends to do with the cow is a mystery, for now, but it’s safe to say the livestock purchase is a least a subtle nod to his newfound home.
Through the departure of Athletic director and long-time friend Scott Woodard, Fisher has remained adamant with his admiration and comfort with Texas A&M. He intends to stay in College Station for the long haul. Evidently, that means upping his cowboy and becoming the proud owner of livestock. If that’s not a step towards the Texanization of the West Virginia native, what is?
Fisher’s spending habits are a trivial matter compared to his on-field results. Still, this somewhat insignificant portion of his hefty $75 Million contract ought to bring a cowboy-hat wearing, spur-stomping smile to Aggies everywhere. Jimbo Fisher remains 100 percent committed to everything that comes with Texas A&M, even the cows.
