Before suffering a shoulder injury against Arizona during his freshman season, Dorian Thompson-Robinson looked like the unquestioned future of UCLA under center. He was completing over 73 percent of his passes over a three-game stretch after taking over for an injured Wilton Speight, but he regained that starting job when Thompson-Robinson went down.

Now, with an entire year under his belt, Thompson-Robinson is pushing his work ethic and film study which could only mean good things on the horizon.

Thompson-Robinson finished his freshman season with 1,311 yards and seven touchdowns with a 58 percent completion rate. He was a highly-touted recruit from Bishop Gorman in Nevada and fans just expected him to become a star right away.

After spring ball, it’s safe to say he holds the starting job, but Austin Burton is giving him a push, which is what Chip Kelly wanted to see.

Thompson-Robinson had a strong spring and a decent scrimmage, going 12-of-16 for 110 yards and an interception. His accuracy looks improved, but he needs to trust his deep ball a little more.
