The 2019 season is right around the corner, but which Tennessee football players made names for themselves this spring and are trending up?

Jeremy Pruitt took over a nearly un-winnable position in Knoxville. No, I’m not saying that Tennessee is an impossible place to win, because it’s seen plenty of success in the past, but rather the expectations are so incredibly high that when coaches don’t reach them within the first couple of years, they’re chased out of town.

For good reason, Tennessee can be a special place if success is followed to Knoxville. This program is just waiting to get back to the good old days and Pruitt can get them there.

After a relatively strong spring, the Volunteers could be headed in the right direction, especially if some under-the-radar stars step up to the plate.

Which Volunteers are trending up after spring ball?

The coaching staff has to be pleased with the tight end position with Dominick Wood-Anderson leading the way after a decent junior season and freshman Jackson Lowe backing him up.

The early enrollee showed star potential during the spring game, catching three passes for 60 yards which was one of the top numbers on the team in terms of receiving. However, it’s not his ability to catch passes and stretch the field that the coaching staff was worried about, rather his ability to show up as a blocker, but he improved in that regard this spring.

Wood-Anderson may be the projected starter, but if Lowe continues to grow at this rate, he could take over sooner rather than later.

Lowe is one of those freshmen who could play extensively in 2019 and become a star on the offensive side of the ball.
