One of the few early enrollees the Volunteers have on the roster from the 2019 class, Jaylen McCollough opened some eyes this spring.

The former four-star was listed as one of the top-200 recruits in the 2019 class and he enrolled early as a safety. He’s listed as a defensive back because he has the ability to play both cornerback and safety at the next level, which makes him so unique.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding his arrival to Knoxville this winter, but how would he live up to that this spring?

If the spring game is any indication, McCollough could not only make the two-deep in the fall, but he could be a star in the secondary. People expected big things from him, but he far exceeded them in the open scrimmage, picking off two passes and having one of the best days of any defender on the team.

Keep an eye on this kid as he continues to turn heads.
